Cumbia Machin from San Diego, CA is a Live Electronic act that started in 2010 by Joaquin Hernandez. It was in 2007 when Focal Dystonia, a Neurological Disorder, surfaced in the right wrist of Joaquin Hernandez ending his ability to hold a drumstick and play drums. He soon found another way with the use of an Electronic Midi Instrument called the Zendrum, an instrumentent worn like a guitar and played with the fingers to trigger electronic drum sounds. The word "Cumbia" is reference to one of the most influential musical dance styles to come out of Colombia and is the basis of the project. "Machin" is a Spanglish word short for "Mas Chingon" or "Bad Ass" it sounds like the English word "Machine" and adds reference to the Zendrum and its Electronic Sounds. Cumbia Machin is a Latin fusion of Samples and Sequences with a Bass Heavy dance style!
